Impact of thyroid dysfunction on red cell indices in a Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, Sahiwal.

Objective: To see the impact of abnormal secretion thyroid hormones on red cell indices in patients disorders. Study Design: Descriptive Cross Sectional study. Setting: Department Pathology, Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, Sahiwal. Period: September 2020 to March 2021. Material & Methods: Two hundred and thirty four (234) disorders were enrolled total, out which 44 hyperthyroid, 102 euthyroid 88 hypothyroid. Patients both genders with age limit 20-60 years included. Blood samples for CBC serum TSH analysed. SPSS 20 was used analyse data. analyze significance among various groups dysfunction, we applied an independent t-test. Results: The comparison hyperthyroid groups, showed a statistically significant difference RBC count (p=0.043) hematocrit (p=0.032). Between hypothyroid also noted mean hemoglobin (p=0.036) (p=0.022). Comparison remained non-significant any hematological parameters. Conclusion: A fluctuation is seen due interrelation between erythropoiesis therefore disorders, monitoring parameters should be done.
